Navré de ton dart: a late-medieval trans story, in poetry and song

Using songs of Gilles Binchois and John Bedyngham, along with their associated parody Masses—and new adaptations of poetry by Christine de Pizan — this program tells a late-medieval transition story, which is also a story of the progress of love, sacred and profane.

But Lady Fortune came to me

and as I slept one evening she

touched every member. I awoke

a body changed and when I spoke

it was my lover’s voice that came

from out my throat. I changed my name,

who was Christina Christian am,

a man of woman, of Pizan.
